Old Windsor to Romney, Old Windsor to Bell Weir, Environment Agency 'Out and About' Guides

Ham Island is on the RIGHT bank of the new cut for Old Windsor Lock. The cut removed a large meander and reduced the distance around it to about one third. It comprises a well screened sewage works in the centre with a number of lovely Thames side properties on the bank of the cut.

The weir is to the west above the cut.

To the east and north is the weir stream acessible by boat from below Old Windsor Lock.
Below the weir on the weir stream is marked as Nickcroft Ait on the right bank.
Sydney Crossley, Pleasure Boating

The long bend of Old Windsor Lock weir stream used to be known as ‘Colnbrook Churchyard’, being utilised by the footpads who used to haunt the neighbourhood to dispose of the bodies of those they had murdered and robbed.
